Bob Chisholm offers a unique form of counselling and psychotherapy that draws on principles of Buddhist psychology as well as Western models of psychotherapy.Though people usually turn to counselling and therapy because of deep feelings of distress, Bob firmly believes that the experience of personal suffering presents an opportunity for psychological development and spiritual growth. To make the most out of such opportunities, he strives to create a safe, receptive environment so that people can address their problems with a feeling of security and trust. The key to Bob's approach is a cultivation of awareness that emphasises accepting things as they truly are whilst embracing change, adaptation and growth.

Before becoming a counsellor, Bob taught yoga for many years after studying in India with the late Sri Pattabhi Jois, the vidwan of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. He holds an MA with distinction in Religious Studies from UKC and regularly contributes articles to the magazine Self&Society. At present, he is co-editing a book of articles on psychotherapy and spiritual experience. Bob reads widely in both Eastern and Western philosophy and psychology and he recently delivered a paper entitled "Buddhadharma and Psychotherapy" at the 2014 VESAK United Nations conference in Vietnam. A dedicated practitioner of mindfulness, Bob has attended meditation retreats all over the world.
